Aicono is an exciting, young accounting firm that uses efficient and innovative technology to optimize the customer experience. We have met the general manager and founder Sondre Døli at Evolve Powerhouse to get to know their company better and hear a little about why they chose the flexible office of Evolve
Want to tell a little about how Aicono came to be?
Mats William Lia and I, who are the general manager and founder with me, met through an E-sports event where I worked with streaming, and he was there as a guest. We talked, where he told me that he worked with accounting. He did not beat me like a guy who worked with accounting, hehe. We quickly found the tone, and wanted to do something together. He has an enormous adaptability, understanding of technology and has a degree in economics.
We set some criteria quite early: We must do this properly, we must operate honestly and fairly. We should be curious and eager, but the most important thing is that we should have fun. We said that from day one; if this is not fun anymore, then we will not do this. And we have achieved that!
What is it that makes Aicona so good?
A lot of accounting firms start out with experience as accountants, but if you can work with someone who has worked with business and has a good understanding of technology, I think you get much further, much faster. We are a good mix of talented people, who have tomorrow's development in focus. For many years I have seen the need for accountants with a high understanding of technology and competence. We have that.
What made you choose a flexible office at Evolve Powerhouse?
We meet many other people, from other industries. We build networks and that is good for us. We are located on the ground floor where we have access to cell offices and meeting rooms. But then we also have access to the facilities throughout the building. Roof terrace with outdoor furniture, a very good staff restaurant with healthy and good food at a reasonable price, it is worth every penny. We also have a fitness center here, which is great to have access to. We must also bring out the Orbit app where you unlock the doors with your mobile! We use it throughout the building here, it also works at several centers. That I can sit here and book a meeting room at the National Theater now and go to the door tomorrow and it is open - it has a significant value.
Otherwise, the office is an icon, it sends only positive signals. It's open, and it does not feel like a corporate skyscraper. Everyone has access to everything, it is very inviting. It is a "Plus house" in terms of sustainability and environmental considerations, and we would like to be associated with it. It sends a strong signal when you enter the main entrance and the first thing you see is how much power the building is producing right now.
And where is Aicono in 10 years?
Oops, that's a big question. I like to ask this question, but find it difficult to answer myself. We are concerned with building stone upon stone, we will build a good company that will have healthy growth. Here we invest in people, and people you have to invest in over time, so then you should build gradually. We are geographically independent, so we get new employees in Tønsberg, then they sit in the offices in Tønsberg. That is what is so nice about Evolve, and we hope we can continue working with Evolve in the future. We know and have experienced that the whole world is changing significantly when it comes to where you sit and work, and how you lead employees. We are curious about that, and will work with the future way of leading. And it can be leading from a distance.
